City Sweats & Project Girl: Building Stronger Futures Together
At City Sweats, we believe that wellness is not a luxury; it is a foundation for a healthy and happy life. It is something every person deserves access to, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. That belief is what makes our partnership with Project Girl, a nonprofit organization based in Lynnwood, WA, so meaningful to us here at City Sweats.
For several years, we have had the privilege of supporting Project Girl and witnessing firsthand the powerful work they do in our local community. Their mission is both simple and strong: to empower young women through mentorship, education, and consistent support so that they can grow into confident, capable leaders of their own lives.
What Project Girl Does
Project Girl serves girls during some of the most formative and vulnerable years of their lives. Through after-school programs, mentorship initiatives, and skill-building workshops, they provide young women with tools that are often taken for granted, like emotional intelligence, leadership development, self-advocacy, and a sense of belonging.
At its core, Project Girl is about access and opportunity. Access to role models, safe spaces, conversations about identity, confidence, health, and purpose, and so much more. Their long-term vision is to help shape a generation of women who are not only resilient but also deeply connected to their own worth. Women who not only know how to advocate for themselves, but others as well.
Why This Partnership Matters to Us
At City Sweats, we talk often about self-care, but not as something indulgent or superficial. We view self-care as a form of self-respect. It is the practice of listening to your body, honoring your mental health, and learning how to regulate stress in a world that constantly demands so much from each of us.
Our partnership with Project Girl allows us to introduce these concepts early and in a healthy way.
We are passionate about showing these young women that caring for themselves is not selfish; it is essential. That wellness can be joyful, empowering, and accessible. That tending to your nervous system, your physical health, and your inner world creates the foundation for confidence, clarity, and leadership in the outside world.
Through advocacy, programming, and shared experiences, we strive to model what sustainable self-care looks like: not perfection, not pressure, but presence, consistency, and kindness toward oneself.
